Function: Language Translation
What’s New?
Additional Default Languages Supported
We've expanded our default language options to better serve a global audience.
Custom Language Translation Options
Properties can now customise how the language translation function behaves on the booking engine.
Enhanced Static Content Translation
All static content is now translatable via Google Translate, with the exception of Property Name, Room Name, and Rate Name to maintain brand integrity. However, if the property wishes for these 3 labels to be translated, permission is available.
Group Booking Engine
These enhancements do not apply to group booking engine. We will advise once implemented.
✅ Expected Behaviour on SwiftBook
Default Language Configuration:
All static and dynamic content is now displayed in the property's default configured language EXCEPT for amenities.
Google Translation Enhancements:
Google Translate is applied to all static and dynamic content, except:
- Property Name
- Room Name

*When translating from default language to another language
Translation Pop-up Warning:
When a customer uses the translation function, a pop-up message appears warning about possible inaccuracies in Google translated content.
This pop- up can be disabled via a setting.
New Customisation Options:
- Hide the language translation function entirely.
- Disable the translation pop-up warning.
- Enable Google Translate for Property Name, Room Name and Rate Name.
- Customise available languages for the translation feature.
⚙️ Configuration in MAX Extranet
Language settings can be managed in the MAX Extranet as under:
Booking Engine Module > BE Settings
Default Language Setup:
- By default, English is always selected as the booking engine language.
- Supported default languages: English, Italian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Japanese, German, Dutch, Polish, Simplified Chinese, French, Spanish
- ⚠️ Important Notes:
- If a property sets a default language (e.g., French), all content descriptions (e.g., property and room descriptions, rate details, policies, widget labels etc) must be manually configured in that language.
- If descriptions are set up in English, Google translation will not apply. Dynamic translation (Via Google Translate) only applies when a customer chooses to translate from the default language to another language.
- All static content is translated to the property's configured default language.
- Amenities however are not translated to the default language.
🌍 Enable Languages for Translation
- By default, all supported languages are enabled for translation on the booking engine.
- Properties can customise this by selecting only the specific languages they want to make available to customers.
- This allows for a more controlled and relevant user experience based on the property's target markets.
💡 This setting is only applicable when the Google Translator feature is enabled.
⚠️ Disable Translate Pop-up
- Properties can disable the pop-up message that warns users about the potential inaccuracy of Google translations.
- When this option is enabled, customers will not see the warning message when using the translation feature.
💡 This setting is only applicable if the Google Translator feature is enabled.
🏷️ Translate Property Name, Room Name, and Rate Name
- By default, these three labels are excluded from Google translation to preserve brand identity and naming consistency:
- Property Name
- Room Name
- Rate Name
- For greater flexibility, properties can enable a setting to allow Google Translate to apply to these labels as well.
💡 This setting is only applicable if the Google Translator feature is enabled.
